Project Manager – Civil Engineering – Land Development

Florida Design Consultants, Inc. is a Civil Engineering, Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Land Planning, and Environmental firm looking for a Project Manager, to fill a full-time position in Pasco County.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Managing site/land development and permitting designs
  • Reviewing deliverables for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Maintaining project schedules and preparing budgets.
  • Developing project pursuit teaming relationships.
  • Evaluating design changes, specifications, and drawings.
  • Preparing project progress reports, and other various reports.
  • Providing client management for existing and new clients.
  • Business development, including networking, grant funding opportunities, proposal writing, preparing scopes of work, project budgets, project management, and schedules. Effectively process multiple permitting entitlements across a variety of governmental agencies. Local experience preferred.
  • Perform construction management, including meetings with contractor and client, project schedule and budget management, requests for information and submittals, and conducting inspections.
  • Project management, project development and oversight, including technical review of work by others, mentoring and providing clear direction to support staff, collaboration with other professionals, and managing scopes, budgets and schedules across multiple projects.
  • Interact with clients and regulators, provide professional expertise and guidance to clients, satisfy project objectives and manage client expectations, conduct meetings, and provide presentations.

Requirements:

  • Engineering expertise in water & wastewater distribution systems, surface water management systems, drainage systems, roadways, and other similar land development related design.
  • Experience with taking project from entitlements through construction.
  • Participate in company marketing efforts to help grow the company’s profile and relationships with our existing and future client base and governmental agencies.
  • Ability to train, lead and mentor team members.
  • Minimum of a BS in Civil Engineering and Florida P.E. licensure.
  • 7+ years of civil engineering experience with land development projects.
  • Engineering programs such as ICPR, StormCAD, & WaterCAD.

Civil Engineering Project Engineer

You will lead design & engineering land development projects that include office & commercial sites, single-family & multi-family residential & retail development sites. You’ll need to understand the project scope of work, budget & schedule; for maintaining control of project, beginning to completion, to ensure project is completed within budget & on schedule. Focus on communication with the client during the course of the project & maintaining a relationship that fosters repeat business.

Civil Designer

Florida Design Consultants, Inc. is a Civil Engineering, Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Land Planning, and Environmental firm looking for a Civil Designer, to fill a full-time position in Pasco County. The Civil Designer will plan and prepare preliminary layouts, detailed design drawings, and calculations from engineering notes, sketches, and/or other drawings.

Typical Project Types:

Requirements:

  • 3 years of full-time experience performing CAD (Civil 3D) design work.
  • Strong knowledge of Civil 3D in a design capacity including but not limited to grading, cross-sections, alignments, profiles, three-dimensional surfaces, earthwork volumes, pressure pipe, and storm pipe networks.
  • Experience using/incorporating land or aerial surveying / mapping data files.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • Associate degree in drafting/design from a technical school is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Civil engineers and clients to create Grading, Land Development, Utility Plan and Profiles, Roadway Plan and Profiles, Concept Plans, and Record Drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Perform drafting, editing, and finalizing drawing packages that adhere to good design practices.
  • Review drawings for completeness, accuracy and quality.
  • Organize/maintain all project drawing revisions and project-related information.
  • Work on many tasks of multiple projects. Tasks are complex requiring innovative, original solutions.
  • Leverage experience to provide guidance to design group to create designs that are functional, economical, maintainable and constructible.
  • Work with other disciplines to provide best design solutions for client.

Construction Engineering Inspector

Florida Design Consultants, Inc. is a Civil Engineering, Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Land Planning, and Environmental firm looking for a Construction Engineering Inspector, to fill a full-time position in Pasco County.
Construction Engineering Inspector will oversee, inspect and document the work performed by field engineers, general contractors and laborers.

Requirements:

  • Any specific certifications pertaining to construction inspection is a plus. (i.g. qualified stormwater management inspector)
  • Seeking candidates with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Construction Inspector/ observer/ or/ Resident Project Representative.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends; answer phone calls when crews are on site supporting your projects; respond to e-mails promptly; and actively lead and participate in project/team meetings.
  • Observation of civil, utilities, and landscape construction work.
  • Must have strong communication skills and able to converse with all levels on the construction site.

Ecologist

Florida Design Consultants, Inc. is a Civil Engineering, Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Land Planning, and Environmental firm looking for an Ecologist, to fill a full-time position in Pasco County.

The Ecologist is responsible for completing scientific tasks, including field work, writing reports, and client/agency coordination. Projects are highly technical with multiple layers of regulatory approvals. An Ecologist will have a working knowledge of field data collection, sampling methods and be able to complete assigned tasks with minimal oversight.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology or related field and/or equivalent combination of education & professional experience.
  • Certification as a Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Certified Wetland Botanist or seasoned wetland delineator preferred, and Gopher Tortoise Authorized Agent.
  • Minimum of 4 years applicable experience.
  • Must possess a valid FL driver’s license and be able to travel to job sites.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines as well as balance multiple projects by prioritizing effectively.
  • Familiarity with USACE wetland delineation methods, ERP and NPDES permits. NEPA: Environmental Assessments (EA & EIS).

Responsibilities:

  • Complete field work to support, wetland delineations & UMAM, vegetation surveys, monitoring reports, ecological surveys, threatened & endangered species, gopher tortoise relocations, Seagrass & Benthic Habitat, etc.
  • Maintain accurate field notes and maps, project files, work logs, etc.
  • Prepare technical and research reports, including wetland delineation, ecological survey, habitat assessments, environmental impacts, and communicate the results to clients and governmental agencies.
  • Taxonomically identify flora and fauna common to the United States, specifically South East.
  • Prepare Biological Assessments and develop practices to avoid, minimize, or mitigate conflicts with sensitive species and regulated habitats. (e.g., wetlands)
  • Prepare or assist with plans and permit applications for submittal to local, state, and federal agencies.

Land Survey CAD Technician

Florida Design Consultants, Inc. is a Civil Engineering, Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Land Planning, and Environmental firm looking for a Land Survey CAD Technician to fill a full-time position in Pasco County.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. May have a college or technical school degree. Must be proficient in applications such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must have a basic background in Land Surveying/Geomatics.
  • Previous construction, construction surveying or engineering related experience is required.

  • Ability to interpret the design engineer’s intent from the various project documents to calculate proposed improvements for construction layout.
  • Draft/Prepare Final Site and Utility Record Surveys.
  • Perform quantity and earthwork volume takeoffs.
  • Prepare Mapping Deliverables including generating surfaces.

Survey Crew Chief

Florida Design Consultants, Inc. is a Civil Engineering, Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Land Planning, and Environmental firm looking for a Crew Chief, to fill a full-time position in Pasco County.

As a Crew Chief at FDC, you will be responsible for boundary, topographic, utility, and construction survey work. You will also perform surveys for property and right-of-way determinations and for establishing and maintaining benchmarks and monumentations. You will directly oversee a crew of one to three survey technicians.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience and/or training or the equivalent combination
  • Experience in Boundary, Topographic and Construction Layout.
  • Expert knowledge of use of Data Collectors, Total Stations, Levels and GPS Equipment.
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight stays when necessary.
  • Willingness to work overtime.
  • Leadership skills, including a willingness to mentor junior staff.
  • Valid FL driver’s license.
  • Ability to comfortably lift 75 lbs. of equipment and walk comfortably with it several feet.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction training is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Be an expert at performing the duties of an Instrument Operator and be willing to instruct a crew in any of those duties and requirements.
  • Have a knowledge of Florida Statutes governing Surveying and Mapping.
  • Closely manage and direct an Instrument Operator.
  • Verify the accuracy of measurements taken by your crew; keep accurate records, notes, and sketches of the work performed.
  • Prepare, practice and execute Health and Safety Procedures, for yourself and all employees under your supervision, as per the firm’s policies.

Survey Field Technician
