Crew Chief – Land Surveying

As a Crew Chief at FDC, you will be responsible for leading a field crew to perform boundary, topographic, utility, and construction survey work. You will directly oversee a crew of one to three survey technicians. Florida Design Consultants, Inc. offers a competitive salary commensurate with skills and experience.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Be an expert at performing the duties of an Instrument Operator and be willing to instruct a crew in any of those duties and requirements.
- Have knowledge of Florida Statutes governing Surveying and Mapping.
- Actively manage and direct an Instrument Operator.
- Verify the accuracy of measurements taken by your crew; keep accurate records, notes, and sketches of the work performed.
- Prepare, practice, and execute Health and Safety Procedures, for yourself and all employees under your supervision, per the firm’s policies.
- Perform field surveying for various types of surveys, including construction stakeout, locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, right of way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines.
- Prepare field notes and sketches.
- Ability to read and understand plans.
Required Knowledge & Technical Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent or a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience and/or training or the equivalent combination.
- Experience in Boundary, Topographic, Control and Construction Layout.
- Expert knowledge of the use of Data Collectors, Total Stations, Levels, and GPS Equipment.
- Willingness to work overtime.
- Leadership skills, including a willingness to mentor team members.
- Valid FL driver’s license.
- Ability to comfortably lift 75 lbs. of equipment and navigate various terrain.

To qualify for this position the ideal candidate should have the knowledge and proficiency in the use of Robotic and Conventional Total Stations, GPS, Leveling, and Digital Runs. Landscape Architect/Urban Design Planner
Job Description
As part of the duties associated with this full-time position, the Landscape Architect / Land Planner will be responsible for preparing landscape plans, landscape renderings, conceptual site plans, trail plans, site amenity plans, land use plans, streetscape design, as well as assisting with due diligence studies for land development projects that may include single-family residential, multi-family residential, mixed-use, commercial, and industrial land use. In addition to the master-planned community work, there are a variety of other public projects that we work on including trail planning and design, downtown master plans, redevelopment plans, and parks & open space master plans, and other related community planning projects. The right candidate will have 1-10 years of experience working on landscape architectural projects, urban design, planning, and zoning projects in the private or public sector. Florida Design Consultants, Inc. offers a competitive salary commensurate with skills and experience.
Required Planning Knowledge
- Undergraduate or Masters degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, or another affiliated design degree that is eligible for licensure.
- Landscape Architecture License or ability to achieve in 12-24 months (preferred).
- AICP certification is encouraged, but not required.
- Understanding of land development design and approval process, but not limited to the layout of rights-of-way, single-family residential lot layout, and accommodating various other land uses commonly seen in master planned communities.
- Ability to produce illustrative land plans that adequately convey design intent to our clients.
- Competence in working within the parameters of city or county ordinances and land development codes.
- Ability to prepare Code Minimum Landscape Plans, Enhanced Landscape Plans, and working knowledge of Irrigation design.
- Ability to perform field inspection on landscape architectural projects.
- Creation of high-quality presentation materials such as diagrams, illustrations, and maps to support planning and project approval efforts.
- Ability to interact with clients and consultant teams to manage day-to-day communication and coordination of ongoing work.
Required Design Knowledge & Technical Skills
- Intermediate experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D and Land F/X
- Basic/Intermediate experience with ArcGIS is encouraged, but not required
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products such as Illustrator and Photoshop as well as
